Queensland’s Weather

Queensland offers a tropical climate that simply can’t be matched anywhere in Australia.

As Queensland is such a large state, temperatures can vary depending on location. The south of Queensland enjoys some of the most comfortable temperatures in all of Australia year round- in summer, you will encounter highs of 28 degrees and lows of 20 degrees, while in winter these temperatures drop to 20 degrees and 9 degrees. Water temperature during summer is approximately 25 degrees, and 19 degrees in winter.

Temperatures in the northern Queensland are hotter and much more humid. Summer temperatures reach over 31 degrees during the day however can sometimes seem warmer than this due to the humidity levels (often over 75%). Evening temperatures drop to a balmy 24 degrees. During winter, highs will be approximately 26 degrees and 17 degrees at night. The water temperature during summer is a lovely 29 degrees while in winter it drops slightly to 25 degrees.
