The Glow Worm Caves are open 7 days a week from 10AM to 4PM.The Tamborine Mountain Glow Worm Caves are located within the Cedar Creek Estate Vineyard & Winery in Mount Tamborine and is less than a 1 hour drive from Surfers Paradise with our Gold Coast car rental service.
It is predicted that the cave population will become self-sufficient in the future, with food items needed to sustain the glow worms are currently breeding and developing within the cave itself.
The caves themselves consist of two large chambers joined by small tunnels. The first chamber is known as the “presentation cave”, where you will be shown an informative video on glow-worms and about the construction of the caves. This chamber is perfected with very realistic caves formations, such as stalagmites and stalactites, water features and flow stone.

The first idea of an artificial glow-worm cave came from concern over increased tourism to certain sections of the Tamborine National Park at night time. Glow Worm Cave construction took close to fourteen months and finished in mid 2004. In February 2005, the first 100 glow-worms were introduced into the cave and once the colony established in March 2006, the doors were opened to the public.
