The first idea of an artificial glow-worm cave came from concern over increased tourism to certain sections of the Tamborine National Park at night time. Glow Worm Cave construction took close to fourteen months and finished in mid 2004. In February 2005, the first 100 glow-worms were introduced into the cave and once the colony established in March 2006, the doors were opened to the public.
