They say there’s a time and place for everything. This saying is especially true when it comes to your beloved dog.

You devote hours each week to feeding, grooming and housekeeping for your best friend. Then it’s off to the vet for their regular shots and whenever they are looking poorly. You willingly do it because you love and care for them. They reward you with unconditional love and affection.

All dogs require regular exercise. If you have a home with a large yard so your dog can run free, they may get all the exercise they need. However most dog-owners are sot so fortunate. Most people these days live in homes or units where outside yard space is limited. ‘Somebody’ has to walk them all four seasons and that person is usually you.

Local councils give and they take a little when it comes to dog walking. They restrict where a dog may walk, both on leash and off-leash. However, we know where they are coming from. They must strike a balance between resident pressure for safety and hygiene concerns about freely running dogs in streets, public parks and gardens, with the need of registered dog owners to properly exercise their pets. Many parks do permit dogs to be walked off-leash, though a few common sense rules apply.

There are several websites which list off-leash parks in the greater Brisbane area.

It’s so rewarding to have a dog that is well behaved and obedient. There’s even greater pleasure from seeing them romp freely, yet still responsive to your call.

Travel to and explore a whole range of leash-free areas with our car rental Brisbane service.

2009 RSPCA Million Paws Walk

May 17, 2009, is the date for the RSPCA’s Million Paws Walks being simultaneously held at many locations around the nation. The University of Queensland is the venue for the Brisbane Walk.

Million Paws Walks is an annual fund-raising project to support the good work of the State RSCPA organizations. Participating pet owners form and register teams of at least 10 members with RSPCA Million Paws Walk. While you can register a team on the day, your fund-raising potential will be limited.

May 17 will be a fun day. There will be dog agility and flyball demonstrations. Why not have your dog hydrobathed – all proceeds will be donated to RSPCA Queensland. There are products for sale, raffles and prizes, competitions, food, drink and entertainment for the children.

Participants in the Walk can order exclusive merchandise as mementos of the day. There are tee-shirts, caps and hats even dog coats and bandanas for your pet. It promises to be a fun day for everyone, so form your own tem and register today.

All the time we come across statements that using a car rental Brisbane service is the best way to explore the city at your own pace and comfort. However, when it comes to renting a car, it is not just about booking a car and paying a price for its use. It order to have a pleasant car hire experience and to get hold of the perfect deal, you need to proceed step by step.

First of all take out some time and perform your own research on the internet. The internet is the best medium which will provide information about the different companies offering services of car rentals. Through the internet you will not only find companies offering special discounts, but also come across companies which will provide you the best options according to your budget.

Secondly, decide upon the vehicle which you would like to hire. It should be big enough to accommodate all the members traveling with you and the luggage. If you are travelling alone, then better go for a small car. You need to ensure that the vehicle is comfortable for long journeys.

Next check out the different companies offering car hire services and pick up two or more companies which seem to be the most suitable ones. Closely evaluate the services of these companies based on your preferences, needs and budget and also compare their services and prices with one another. The more you search the more are the chances of getting the best car hire deal.

Once you finalize the most suitable company, contact them through phone or mail and ask them if they are having any special offers. Also check about their office location, availability of the vehicle of your choice on the required dates, their rates, whether it is an inclusive one, the extra charges, insurance and anything and everything you can think of. Be very clear about any hidden cost.

Do not ignore the location from where you have to pick up the car. It is always suggested to go for car hire from the Brisbane airport itself or from the neighboring areas, so that there are no hassles for collecting the vehicle after reaching the city.

Once you finalize a Brisbane car rental company, it is always worth making an advance booking. However, remember to go through the terms and conditions very carefully.

By following the above mentioned guidelines, you can make your car hire search more systematic and get hold of the best car hire deal for enjoying your Brisbane tour.

Research a Goldcoast Seachange with a car rental Brisbane.

Australia’s population growth pattern is forever changing. Today, nearly 20% of Australia’s population lives on the coast outside capital cities and the number is growing by 60,000 people a year.

While Brisbane has been Australia’s fastest growing capital city in recent years, population growth along the coast north and south-east of Brisbane has been even faster fuelled by sustained tourism and more Australians seeking a sea-change lifestyle. Three of Australia’s top four fastest growing coastal lifestyle towns lie in Queensland. Hervey Bay is growing by 5.1% a year, followed by the Sunshine Coast (3.8%) and the Gold Coast (3.5%). By comparison, Brisbane is growing at 2.5%, Melbourne (1.5%) and Sydney (1%).

Dreams of a lifestyle of fabulous beaches, access and views of the water and a consistently warm climate attract many visitors to these regions to return and stay.

New settlers in the 1970’s who were seeking a simple life, did not greatly impact on the daily life of the seaside towns. Retirees looking to spend their twilight years with others in an idyllic setting represented the next wave of new settlers. While they brought differing levels of wealth, they also demanded more than basic levels of community services. Their growing political clout produced results, too.

The age of new Seachange residents has been steadily falling as more and more successful business people seek a changed lifestyle to accompany their new wealth and more people daily commute to major employment centres from the coastal towns.

Better highways extended the viable commuting distance to Brisbane while improved telecommunications allows new businesses to be run from previously remote locations. Each new highway development announcement attracts speculative land purchases pending development. These trends combine to accelerate the move to a coastal Australia, what has been called by one prominent researcher as the “culture of the beach”.

But everything is not all rosy at the beach.

Competition for properties stimulates further land sub-division and permanently changes the amenity of costal towns that was once their main allure. Pressure to grow and build always seems get ahead of the vision and planning and funding capabilities of local government. There are many scars to remind new and longer residents of the price of rapid growth.

Increasing higher expectations of each subsequent wave of new settlers for improved roads, water and sewerage expectations puts local and State governments under immense financial pressure for capital works.

Local seachange economies have been described as consumption urban landscapes. It takes considerable time, heavy government and private investment to develop diversity and depth in the industries that can be supported by coastal towns. For every 1,000 new residents of a seaside town, up to 25 new retail jobs are created, mainly in food and household goods.

Seachange is not always, forever.

People often leave within two years of their arrival, either back to their former home town or to seek out something better. Failure to integrate into the local community, separation from friends and family and the lack of health and community facilities are cited as reasons for moving on.

Hiring with a car rental Brisbane service when touring and investigating possible seachange towns is a good start. However, you need more than a holiday or short stay in your targeted coastal towns, as they do not always reveal what you will experience when you relocate there. Carry out plenty of research before you commit. Try renting for six months before you buy to see if a seachange will work for you.

Seachange is an increasingly more important phenomenon that is shaping the face of Australia’s population distribution.

Brisbane is an electrifying modern city which extends warm hospitality to all its guests. It is a perfect holiday destination for those who want to relax and rejuvenate and even for those who want to have a rocking time. There are lot many things to do in the city and with the help of car rental Brisbane you can do most of these things within the minimum time.

Brisbane is a city which has something or the other to offer to all its tourists. Some of the top Brisbane holiday ideas include:

There is a great difference in the terms, conditions and policies of car hire from place to place and even the companies offering services of car rental Brisbane have their own way of functioning. If you are planning to visit the city shortly and are interested in hiring a car for yourself, you first need to know and thoroughly understand all the rules and guidelines related to car hiring in the city.

Car hire in Brisbane is very popular and is a completely professional field. There are a number of travel agencies which exist in the competitive market and provide excellent services to all the customers. Most of the agencies offer Fords, Toyotas, Holdens, Kias and many other popular cars for hire. These cars are available under different categories such as mini, standard, premium, luxury, compact, SUVs, minivans/MPVs, intermediate and others. The rent price and the hiring terms and conditions most of the time depends on the category one chooses.

No matter whether you book Brisbane car rental in advance or on the spot, you will have to sign a contract with the agency. The contract generally contains the terms and conditions related to the rental period, the liabilities on the agency and the renter, accident/damage insurance coverage, vehicle loss, breakdown, extra charges etc.

Sometimes besides the Brisbane car hire amount, you might also have to pay extra charges such as additional driver’s fees, airport taxes, pick up and drop off charges, admin fees and other assorted fees etc.

There are numerous companies offering services of car hire in Brisbane, but once you look at our prices and compare them to the rest, you will find you won’t find a more quality and affordable Brisbane car rental service.

Follow these tips when using our Brisbane car rental service to help drive your petrol dollar further and get more out of each tank.

Driving Aggressively and Speeding:
This can simply be defined as the type of driving you would undertake when you would be in a rush to get somewhere. Planting your foot on the accelerator from the traffic lights and then braking hard and excessively speeding, all take part in reducing the fuel economy of your car.

In order to overcome this, allow more time to reach your destination and try keeping a constant speed when you drive. On urban Brisbane roads, if you travel at close to the speed limit, you will receive mostly green lights; which does help increase your fuel economy and also reduces the wear and tear on the brakes.

Sticking to the Highest Gear Possible:
Brisbane car rental vehicles have actually been designed to begin in the lowest gear possible where the most power is, but the downside is that all that power means an increase in overall fuel consumption. So in order to improve your fuel economy, try to travel in the highest gear possible when you are driving at a constant speed.

Using Cruise Control:
The use of cruise control can dramatically improve your fuel economy by helping you stick at a steady speed, but this is only useful if you are travelling along flat roads. However, if you find yourself driving along hilly roads, using cruise control normally causes your car to accelerate a lot quicker than it would if you were using the accelerator yourself.

Excessive Idling:
When a car is sitting still and idling, it is simply using fuel and not moving at all, which equates to a fuel economy of 0 kilometres per litre. So when you leave your car running at the local drive thru or waiting outside for someone, you are simply wasting fuel. As a solution, it is a lot more efficient to just turn the engine off while you wait and then turn the car on again.

Air Conditioner vs. Open Windows:
Using the air conditioner does cause your car to use more fuel and results in less overall power, but travelling with your windows all the way down can be even worse at times because of the drag on the Brisbane car rental vehicle.

If you are driving at a slower speed (at perhaps less than 80kph), you are better off leaving your windows open. But for those faster speeds and on the highway, keep the windows up and turn on the air conditioning.
