Glass House Mountains were named by the famous Captain Cook and happen to be a range of stunning volcanic crags, just 20km north of Caboolture, on the Queensland Sunshine Coast. There are some wonderful scenic drives throughout the Glass House Mountains, which are also a favourite with walkers and climbers due to is fabulous bushwalking tracks and rock climbing.

The Glass House Mountains also hold a rich Aboriginal history. It is located approximately 70 km to the north of Brisbane, belonging to the Sunshine Coast Regional Council local government area.

The Glass House Mountains are a group of eleven hills that rise suddenly from the coastal plain on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The highest mountain is Mt Beerwah (556 m above sea level), but the most identifiable of all the mountains is Mount Tibrogargan, which looks like a giant ape sitting by the roadside staring out to the sea.

These mountains were formed as molten lava cooled to form hard rock in the cores of volcanoes between 26-27 million years ago. The surrounding softer rocks have been eroded in this time, forming the amazing volcanic plugs that remain today.

The Glass House Mountains boasts some of the most exciting and rewarding climbing in Queensland. There are a few mountains with easy bush walking tracks, whilst others contain much more challenging climbs. The views from the peak of Mt.Beerwah are superb.

Since there’s so much to see and do, why not take advantage of our car hire Brisbane Airport service and arrange your own schedule to experience the most out of your Glass House Mountains experience.

While driving through the Glass House Mountains, you will come across the small Glass House Mountains township. You can also experience the four smaller national parks set within the Glass House Mountains National Park, all containing more walking tracks and rock climbing.

Neighbouring the Glass House Maintains are the Beerburrum State Forests, which contain a number of different lookouts across the Glass House Mountains. You will also find several picnic areas, as well as some more brilliant walking trails.

So don’t forget to make use of our car hire Brisbane Airport service, so you and your loved ones can visit other Brisbane & Gold Coast destinations at your convenience without wasting precious vacation time.
