Entertaining, new and ever evolving, the Ekka is back and is better than ever in 2009.
This year’s Royal Queensland Show will be largely focused on the promotion of Queensland’s agriculture, industry and culture. There will also be lot of insightful and enjoyable educational programs for families.
Regardless of if you call it the Ekka, the Exhibition or The Royal Queensland Show, it is ten excitement packed days of festival of fun for all.
Held at the RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane City, The EKKA starts on the second Thursday of August every year. With an excess of over 600,000 visitors attending every year, the Ekka has grown immensely in the 130 years since its beginning.
There are stacks of free events and family attractions at the RNA Showgrounds, including a nightly fireworks display, concerts, displays, fashion parades, animal judging, craft and food. As always, there is always the excitement of the amusement rides, win prizes in the sideshow alley and buy heaps of showbags.
There is a whole lot of things to see at the Ekka while you walk around the massive 22 hectare showgrounds.
Talented performing artists walk the area, ready to entertain you. You will discover live shearing demonstrations and food showdowns, cattle judging, scavenger hunts and belly dancing displays… the Ekka has it all! Talented circus performers, dancers, bands and celebrities will bring crowds to a standstill, while the brave ones can send their hearts racing on one of the many extreme rides.
