One of the many big things in Australia, the Big Pineapple is both a world famous tourist attraction and a working pineapple plantation, located near Nambour on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
Located on 80 hectares, the Big Pineapple is a working pineapple and macadamia nut plantation surrounded by a sub tropical forest backdrop. The Big Pineapple itself is over 16 metres high and was originally opened way back in early 1971.
The Big Pineapple has also been recognised by the National Trust of Queensland as a national Australian icon for its major role in the tourism industry of both Queensland and Australia.
The Big Pineapple is located in Woombye, near Nambour on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane. Take the hassle of organising a tour and being held back by time restraints by hiring a car from our Brisbane car rental office. While you are there, why not take a ride on the authentic sugar cane train, funnily enough called the “Nutmobile” and go for a pleasant ride through the macadamia and tropical fruit orchards and pineapple fields, stopping off for an informative and entertaining presentation about the growing of pineapples.
Visit the wildlife reserve and take a look at a range of Australian native wildlife animal and bird species. Some of these animals include koalas, wombats, emus, owls and many more. The Animal Nursery is also a children’s favourite, where they can roam around, touch and feed all the baby farm animals.
Why not give into temptation and try a range of tasty meals and snacks at the Big Pineapple restaurants. Indulge in some freshly crushed pineapple juice, chocolates, fudge, cakes and a wide variety of lollies & confectionary.
The gift shop also has a huge range of quality souvenirs, jewellery, gifts and a range of gourmet jams, sauces, condiments and tasty homemade biscuits.
Enjoy the calming atmosphere, farming exhibits, entertaining tours, rides and restaurants.
